For us, there’s also a cost to living in denial & confusion about our own (“my own”) behavior that came with the illusion of singularity. Understanding that we are many gave us answers we didn’t have and working with each other improved our behavior in the external world as a group rather than being erratic, unpredictable but “singular”. So even while we might mourn an illusion of “simplicity” — it has actually helped us live in integrity and freed up spoons from anxiety about “what might I do” in any given situation. Hopefully that makes sense. 🙂
