    Welcome System Mapping Students,

Let everyone know something about your system and what y’all would like from this course:

    • What are your& goals from joining this course?
    • What would y’all like to get out of it the most?
    • What excites y’all about being in this course?
    • What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping?

What are your& goals from joining this course? We need an expanded toolbox, that much is pretty clear to us. Our current ones aren’t working as well as they should, so time to look for some more!
What would y’all like to get out of it the most? See above, but we’re hoping that the process of mapping the system will help smooth some communication and take some of the pressure off of the person here most in charge of making sure we have space. We also have a ‘record keeper’, but they’ve been glitching a bit so we’re hoping this might help.
What excites y’all about being in this course? New tools! New people! A reason not to crash after D&D on Sunday mornings!
What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping?? We’ve got our own Discord server, and we also use Pluralkit which allows us to make little profiles. We have an old document with everyone on it that we gave our therapist (she was cool with it). We’ve also tried to make maps of the literal space on paper and in minecraft, but… uh. We need some other options.

What we’re most seeking form this course is additional connection and understanding of our own system. We have never yet made a system map but we might have enough system connectivity to be able to ‘ping’ for answers to be able to start making one.

What are your& goals from joining this course? We want to learn about new ways to explore and map our system – particularly visual mapping methods that come less intuitively for us, as well as less traditional maps such as skill maps and value maps. We want to know everyone in our system better by the end of the course – both in terms of our relationships with each other and understanding where one-person ends and another person begins.

What would y’all like to get out of it the most? We want to increase communication between our main group of co-conscious fronters and another group of people (including several previous hosts) stuck on the other side of a communication barrier. In an ideal world, system mapping would help us to creatively brainstorm ways of increasing communication across that barrier and help us to actively include people on either side of the barrier in our crew.

What excites y’all about being in this course? We’re really excited to brainstorm ideas with a whole bunch of systems with completely different learning styles, so we can hopefully discover new ideas and possibilities together that our system would never have considered on our own!

What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping? We’ve been making written lists and flash cards for our headmates for a long time, and we’ve been using spreadsheets as a living document to keep track of key information for each headmate (including faceclaims) for a month or so. We have playlists for songs that deeply resonate with different people in our system (the maps we interact with most on a day-to-day basis), and we made our first hand-drawn heat map / relationship map earlier today. That was really helpful – we ended up naming our main communication barrier (the River Styx) and started brainstorming ways to increase communication across it. We have a private Discord server with channels for each person who’s fronted in our system, so maybe that counts too? We also do a lot of journaling and longform writing about our system, which might loosely be considered a map – it’s at least a thorough paper trail.

Thanks everyone, great replies so far — we’re pretty excited.

Our goal for creating the course is to attempt to do even better than our conference session and explore what teaching methods help folk the most, as well as what folk actually need to get from their maps — so that maybe some new ideas & methods come out of it. However, we won’t be too surprised if everyone’s needs are entirely unique either, if every map is wildly different, if everyone gets something different from it — but hopefully all equally fulfilling and useful on a deeply personal system-wide level.

And our experience is pretty extensive, but mostly with our own system. We’ve had access to plurals sharing their lists, details of their system, drawings, art, maps, faceclaims & various collages etc. for a long time. But interestingly we are pretty resistant to “parsing” other people’s intimate information deeply. We reflexively don’t want to study their “Stuff” so much that we might introject something or some of us feel like it’s a friend (and only a friend) sharing how well their bra fits. Like “Uh — cool, really interesting. Pretty. Looks comfie.” (Looks away). ROFL

So hopefully we’ll gracefully accept the gift of those who are comfortable sharing, and remain modest, humble, awed, and defer to others and their own wisdom, instinct, intuition, artfulness, craftiness, wily & moxy in creating their own maps that make 100% perfect, hopefully “Comfie” sense to them without staring too intently or trying to pick apart, objectify or worship their creativity and beauty. 🙂

What are your& goals from joining this course?to get more tools, and rebuild communication and awareness that we used to have feel like we’ve seriously lost some skills and connection that we had previously
What would y’all like to get out of it the most?better internal communication, we cooperate pretty well but we’ve slipped into being hyperfocused outside.
What excites y’all about being in this course? feeling like we’re not alone in working on this..
What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping? we used to do it a lot.. and have really detailed maps an even building a room drawings, but right now.. I honestly couldn’t tell you the current status of anything or most inside.

Thanks for answering everyone — we are pretty excited to work on this material with y’all and hopefully everyone gets the improved communication, relationships, and clarity that y’all are seeking 🙂

What are your& goals from joining this course?
To increase system communication and identifying ourselves; we feel so blurry most times and aren’t sure where to start as a polyfragmented system!!

What would y’all like to get out of it the most?
closer connecting inside in a way that feels safe and helps us feel more grounded in our DID system

What excites y’all about being in this course?
Getting to explore this in a focused way with other systems

What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping?
Haven’t done it in… at least nine years if not longer? Our system shut down a lot after some bad trauma so looking forward to going for it again with new knowledge.

What are your& goals from joining this course?
We are a newly diagnosed system and being made aware of what is going on in our head has been chaos & very confusing for us. We are hoping this will bring more structure, and help us communicate better and better understand ourselves individually and as a whole.

What would y’all like to get out of it the most?
Structure & understanding of each of us individually

What excites y’all about being in this course?
Learning more about who we are, and being able to put on paper what we thought was normal for years and make it less chaotic. Also learning from other systems.

What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping?
    No experience.

What are your& goals from joining this course? Updating LOOONG overdue maps as a part of selves-identity-exploration this month.
What would y’all like to get out of it the most? honestly not sure, but maybe some definite clarity on some of the new folks and where they fit in the wider system (between the pandemic, neurodivergent hyperfixations, and processing work in therapy we’ve had a growing awareness of a surge in stowaway membership).
What excites y’all about being in this course? Honestly mostly excited about using this as a framework to get things done.
What’s your past experience(s) with system mapping? we’re pretty experienced tbh. But always interested in new tools and new models we might not have thought of!
